Friendsgiving is quickly approaching, and here are three reasons from Colossians 1:12 for why we are hosting this event:
“Give thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in light.” - Colossians 1:12
1. “Give thanks to the Father” - Paul commands us to give thanks to the Father. Jesus has set up a time each year through the holiday of Thanksgiving where we can focus on God’s generosity thru his Son. And because of Jesus’ work for us on the Cross and in His resurrection, our faith in Him gives us a never ending supply of the Spirit! How wonderful! When this happens in our hearts, it naturally leads to thankfulness.
2. “Share ...[with] the saints” - Our faith in Christ has placed us in a covenant community of “saints” that we live life with now. Therefore, Friendsgiving is a tradition that Sola City will be beginning this year to help us grasp the true reality of our fellowship with one another and our partnership in the Gospel. One beautiful reality that we will get to experience this year is the introduction of 5 new members!
3. “The inheritance of the saints in light” - Along with introducing new members, we will also partake of communion together, sing songs, hear God’s Word read aloud, and pray for and with each other. All of these things, among other aspects of the night, will work to reveal this glorious “inheritance” that we have in Christ together.
We hope you will join us as we work to spread the supremacy of God thru the Gospel of Jesus Christ to our city and beyond.
